Ducks can reign again
The Stanley Cup may not change hands at the end of this season. Anaheim has it and wants to keep it, trying to become the first team to repeat as an NHL champion since Detroit in 1997 and 1998. The Ducks shy away from that challenge -- even if Scott Niedermayer and Teemu Selanne never take a shift for them this season.
The two future Hall of Famers are undecided on whether to retire. At some point this season both could return to Anaheim . But the Ducks are so good that even if they've seen the last of the Conn-Smythe-winning defenseman and the flashy, explosive winger who led them in goals and points last season, they can still repeat as champions.
