World Series winner will come from deep American League

SAN FRANCISCO - Last year’s World Series winner played below-.500 baseball for the entire second half, so we now know how little that can mean as a postseason indicator.

So we sit at the mid-season break -- three weeks away from knowing where Mark Teixeira, Jose Contreras and Adam Dunn will finish the season -- and wonder which team we will be watching in late October.
